This informative and almost 100 % accurate analysis of Marquez' career does contain one historical error. When the IBF stripped Marquez of their world featherweight title, it was because no one entered a bid to promote Marquez' mandatory defense against Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym not Valdemir Pereira. Pereira defeated Rakkiatgym to win the vacant title.

Take Pacquiao out of Marquez's resume, then his resume is mediocre.. Just keep it real.. Pacquiao boost Marquez's stature..

Eric Terrible Morales dethrones Marquez thats why Marquez never fought him.

          Viva El Terrible..

Over Rating? Pacquiao fought 1 foe who he couldnt close the show against and that was against Marquez who was given 4 chances...

Other then that Pac beat the odds against Delaquitter, Hatton, Cotto, wars with MAB and Morales.... Over rating..

Lemme guess, you prob have Billy Dibbs listed as a future Hall of Famer. SMH

Very fair. You can't take Pacquiao off of Marquez's resume. It's not right, that's the fighter of the decade who he arguably beat 3 times. Marquez is definetly an all time great and future first ballot hall of famer.

Barrera Morales and Hamed wouldnt fight Marquez because he was a huge risk and very low reward.

This piece is all over the place, and I'm a Marquez fan...

                      Doesn't fight the best fighter at 130, 135, 140

Take away Pacquiao win, after the fourth try and your left with a past prime MAB, Kat, washed up Casa and Diaz

How does this equal ATG? He lost to average-to-good fighters and was made ordinary looking per writers own words. When up against a legit ATG, he was made too look like he shouldn't even box. The article justifies this by placing his status purely on a p4p level, but if ordinary boxers made him look ordinary and an ATG fighter made him look foolish, I'm sure we can look for many p4p and non p4p level boxers/tech types to make him look silly.

Sure he looks amazing against the fighters who fight like Diaz and Kats and even Pac, but c'mon. I certainly think he will be an amazing candidate for the Hall of Fame, but this ATG business is way out of place. He avoided the best comp just for Pac, and it took 4 tries and 6 years total to get a win. To each their own
