  • Boxers who faced brothers

Can you name some fighters who fought brothers in their careers? I know Larry Holmes and Dwight Qawi fought the Spinks brothers, and The Klitschkos have fought some of the same fighters, as well as Buddy and Max Baer against Joe Louis. Any others you guys can name?

duran faced both hagler & sims right?

i have read about the duran-sims fight but was unable to watch it... why did sum1 like duran lose to such lesser fighter?

was it a bad match-up of styles? or sims was just larger? duran unmotivated? or lackadaisical in training? (usual duran excuses)

I do know that Jersey Joe Walcott knocked out Harold Johnson as well as his father Phil.

Greb beat both Gibbons brothers, Mike and Tommy.

Duran-Sims was very exciting fight, in which Sims just got it. Duran lost on scores of 92-97 | 94-95 | with one judge having it 96-94 to Duran.

Well it is well known that Duran could come unmotivated ot under trained. As he proved with defeats against Robbie Sims and Kirkland Laing. Two fighters who he should of defeated without alot of trouble. ''Don King said after the Laing defeat Duran was a completey finished getting defeated by a man who cound't of lessed his boots in his prime''

But to Sims's credit he was a pretty decent fighter who did beat two hall of famers in Duran and a young 7-1 Iran Barkley.

But just when you count Duran out he comes back, everybody thought he was a finished fighter after getting beat by Kirkland Laing, but he would then go on to defeat Pipeno Cuevas and the unbeaten Davey Moore to become World Champion.

Then people thought he was shot, after being defeated by medicore Robbie Sims, and he had only won 2 of his last 5. But he would then go on to defeat the WBC middleweight Champion Iran Barkley who was coming of a KO win over Thomas Hearns.

At times Duran was very unpredictable, he said he hardly even trained for the Thomas Hearns bout, and just cut weight.

But no dout Duran on form and in his prime was breathtaking to say the least.

Very underrated fighters the Gibbons's brothers, especailly Tommy who holds a win over Greb. Tommy also held wins over Kid Norfolk, Georges Carpentier, Billy Miske, and George Chip. Tommy also took a prime Jack Dempsey to a decision, in a losing effort. The only man to ever stop him was Gene Tunney in his last ever fight.

His elder bother Mike was never stopped in 133 bouts. He held wins over Ted 'Kid' Lewis, George Chip, Battling Ortega, and Mike O'Dowd.

Mike Gibbons also had a son who boxed Jack Gibbons, he won 64 out of 70 bouts. And was never stopped. Very good boxing family and extremely tough.

I've read all the newspaper reports to the Gibbons's and Greb fights. Good read's.

Bobby Boy Velardez faced both Erik Morales and his brother Diego Morales.

Velardez won the fight with Diego by DQ in Tijuana, and apparently talked bad about Tijuana.

Erik was mad about that, so after he stopped Velardez, he had a photographer take a pic of him posing over Velardez on the canvas.
