  • Russia Receives the Worlds Most Negative Approval Rating In Now 8 Consecutive Years

Not surprisingly no one in the civilized world really approves of Russia's modern day fascist state. However, United States on the other hand received the highest world approval rating six years running.

Russia has earned the lowest world approval rating in a world leadership survey for the eighth consecutive year while the U.S. received the highest with 45 percent. The U.S. has beaten the EU, Russia, China and Germany since 2009.

In Gallup***8217;s report, Rating World Leaders: What People Worldwide Think of the U.S., China, Russia, the EU and Germany, Russia has received the lowest rating and the U.S. highest for the past six years. Countries close to the West, particularly NATO member countries, have a low rating of Russia. However, Russia***8217;s former republics such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan and Tajikistan have negative rating about the leadership of the EU, Germany and the U.S.

The U.S.-based Gallup consulting firm has found that just 22 percent of people around the world on average said they approve the leadership of Russia. The rating is the lowest since records began. The survey is an assessment of leadership approval for the EU, Germany, China, Russia and the U.S. Next to the U.S., Germany received an approval rating of 41 percent followed by the EU at 29 percent. About 29 percent approved of China***8217;s leadership.

Reflecting the current tension over the conflict in Ukraine, the approval for the West was low in Russia and its neighbouring countries. About 82 percent of Russians expressed their disapproval of U.S. leadership while 70 percent said they did not like how the EU is being run. Gallup***8217;s report said the growing divide between the West and Russia, former Cold War enemies, does not bode well for negotiations in the future.

Meanwhile, as the crisis in Ukraine continues, the U.S. has accused Russia of building up its air defence systems inside eastern Ukraine and backing the training exercises of pro-Russian rebels despite a ceasefire agreement. State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said in a statement that is the ***8220;highest amount of Russian air defence equipment***8221; in Ukraine since August.

Referring to the training exercises, Harf added that the training incorporated Russian UAVs or unmanned aerial vehicles. She said the State Department believes the complex nature of training ***8220;leaves no doubt***8221; of Russia***8217;s involvement.

In recent weeks, fighting has resumed in eastern Ukraine with each side hurling accusations of violence, reports Reuters. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier in the week that incidents of ceasefire violations have passed.

However, Harf reiterates Russia continues to beef up its forces along the Ukrainian border. ***8220;After maintaining a relatively steady presence along the border, Russia is sending additional units there.***8221; Harf remarked that the latest military build-up indicated the largest presence of Russian forces on the border since Oct. 2014.
