there is absolutly no demand for his return..yet years later people still would pay to see lennox lewis return????im not knocking joe he was a good fighter..but why does he have 0 demand??

Joe did all he could do. Cleaned out 168, won the title at 175, beat RJ. All that was left was Dawson, which woulda been relevant, but nobody woulda gotten excited over. Same wit a Bhop rematch. No reason for him to come back, so nobody cared.

Because to you Americans he exploded out of obsurity to put on the performace of the decade in his beating of your 'New Tyson', after the mere lamb, Manfredo, he then beat and beat up two of your legends in Hopkins and Jones.

There should be a correction to your post: Instead of 'Noone wants to see him come out of retirement...'

You should put: 'We Americans don't want to see him come out of retirement... (because he beats our best fighters!)'

It was the right time for him to go, thats why.

With lewis you can make a very good arguement for a Vitali rematch.

Good question. I think the answer is that Calzaghe is not supposed to lose. He's Rocky . At least he's as fake as Rocky.. Now he was a good fighter but his fans don't want him to return because: He would probably be facing yet another 40 year old like Glen Johnson (now he wouldn't probably drop out of the fight) or be beat by a younger Dawson if he wanted to go for a fight people actually wanted to see. And because most haters on these forums are already his fans and the ones who are not don't really hate (or love) the Zaghe, no one cares... That's what I think anyway.

the heavyweight division is seen as weak by some.

some think that the vitali - lewis fight should be re-fought as they didn't like the way it ended.

some want to see vitali beat lewis. to shut up the klit haters.

Joe was never able to galvanize the public because nobody believes that he could have beaten either hopkins or jones if he fought them prior to their AARP memberships.

Well why then do you say 'Noone wants to see him come out of retirement'?

If he came out for one last fight here in the UK he'd sell out Wembley (100,000 seats) fighting Manfredo II.

However, I do in a way see what you are trying to say. I would say people are generally satisfied with Joe's career and wish him the best - no need to keep fighting. He has made good money and won the people's respect. Long may he enjoy retirement.
