how many volts in that taser, and does it lose power at longer ranges?

i really don't see any reason why you haven't hit any of your friends with it, especially if they're volunteering. you got carpet. their heads will bounce off the floor like a basketball. they will be fine.

Tasers have two modes, drive-stun which required contact with the subject, and dart mode which requires the user to affix a compressed air cartridge to the end. When deployed the compressed air fires two prongs at the subject and the current passes through a wire into the prong.

So it doesn't lose power at longer ranges, it's actually more effective, but the wires and the spread of the two prongs limit the range.
