  • Toney/McCallum I: Similar fights?

I’m looking for fights that are similar to their fist meeting.

    Fast paced, technical, very competitive.

    TIA.

Fights involving one of them specifically? Or just good technical fights in general?

        Leonard-Benitez
        Whitaker-McGirt (I or II but especially I)
        Mosley-De La Hoya I
        McCallum-Kalambay (both)

Those are personal faves in my lifetime.

mccallum-curry is my favorite fight ever, very fast paced technical chessgame with a sweet finish.

hearns-hill also fits your criteria, not fought in as many areas of the game, mainly a long range jabbing contest with both men trying to control range and set up the right hand. but its two of the best jabbers/long range fighters ever doing so.

          de la hoya-quartey.

1989 McCallum beats Toney on almost any day/night.

The first fight was one of my favorites as well. In the rematch Whitaker really beat up McGirt.

Late he did, but he had to get off the floor twice and it's really a great fight.

Just watched Whitaker/McGirt I, and heard Merchant describe it as ‘violent chess’; that’s a pretty good way of phrasing what I was looking for.

Seen a few of the others, I’ll be sure to watch the rest of them. Thanks!
