      patterson is generally considered a fringe HW great. first man to regain the title, bonafide star in his day.

      compared to great HW, he has a bad chin. his size obviously doesn't do any favors. patterson was LHW sized. like a lot of other guys, he fought at H dub for the money.
      Agree with NE on this one.

      Our Patterson wasn't even that good for his time. He avoided all the big contenders for years.

        Yet Liston squashed Patterson like a fly in 1 round twice.

        Cassius Clay, 20, schooled 'ingo' so badly in 1960 before the patterson decider, that his trainer had to stop the sparring session
