  • [HOLY S**T!] Virginia to reinstate the voting rights or 1/4 million felons!

The decision Friday by Virginia's Democratic governor, Terry McAuliffe, to reinstate the voting rights of almost a quarter-million convicted felons could reverberate into the general election.

McAuliffe, who has close ties to Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, announced he will use his executive power to restore voting rights to more than 200,000 convicted felons who have served their sentences -- many of them African Americans, a core voting bloc of Democrats.

McAuliffe's move circumvented the state's GOP-controlled Legislature and immediately sparked complaints.

"We will ensure everyone with freedom to live in our communities has the right to participate in the democratic process," McAuliffe said on Twitter.

State laws vary on the right to vote for ex-felons.

Across the country, about 5.85 million Americans with felony convictions are prevented from casting ballots, according to the American Civil Liberties Union.

Virginia has some of the strictest laws when it comes to voting rights for felons. The nonpartisan Sentencing Project estimates that one in five African Americans in Virginia is disenfranchised.

McAuliffe served as chairman of Hillary Clinton's 2008 failed presidential campaign. He is a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Long considered a Republican bastion, Virginia has turned more purple in recent years. President Obama won the state in both 2008 and 2012.

Virginia has liberal pockets in the northern and coastal parts of the state. It is more reliably Republican in rural areas further south and around the state's large military bases.

Clinton won the state's Democratic primary over rival Bernie Sanders last month with more than 64% of the vote.

What do you people think of this move?. dis - CUSS!....
    ****in ******s and Libs!.

Anything to give the Dems the advantage. They know that if felons are aware that the dems reinstated their voting rights, that they will automatically vote for them. That's well and good but are they going to also provide them with jobs, education programs, etc? No, they aren't so what are they really doing for the felons? Nothing at all, just getting their votes and hanging them out to dry.

Do you know by approximately how many votes separated the dems from the republicans in VA in 2012? 150,000 votes, that's it. Because of the increased republican voter turnout in this year's primaries, they are hoping to offset the difference with felon votes but are offering nothing in return for them. "Give me your vote, then take a hike".

This is a way to insure Clinton gets elected obviously, but its how things should be in every state. Just cuz you've been locked up doesn't mean you should lose your say in who your leaders are once you've served your time.

I agree with you but I question the timing of this decision. McAuliffe want a position in the Clinton administration once she become a prez. that's all.

this is such a worthless transparent move.

if they really wanted to "help" felons (they really dont) they would do something to lower the recidivism rates of felons and voting in a rigged election is utterly worthless to them in reality.

you have to do something logistically and more importantly bureaucratic legality wise with getting them better jobs so they dont fall back into a life of crime.

letting them vote for a corporate globalist free trade open border cvnt like hillary will not lower the recidivism rates of felons. in fact, its gonna do quite the opposite since open border free trades hurt the american working class by giving corporations lower wage workers which means more drain by entitlement programs not to mention the clinton presidency was all about locking up vast sums of minorities or according to hillary, superpredators.

Glad it happened. Once you have served your time, agreed. It is only fair. They pay taxes, let everyone have a say in the USA.
