[PLEASE HELP] Why does one bad apple spoil the bunch

Thats some bull****. Was lookin foward to eating one just now while surfing but all my ****s went bad. I honestly thought it was just a saying...wtf why is this?

Seriously... apples put out some chemical that as they go bad cause other apples and produce to ripen faster and go bad. Produce companies don't ship other produce with apples.
