I hear you man. My dad never went to jail, but he was tough back in the day. But he's old now and I am in great shape these days. Not to get too personal with my life, but I have repressed anger towards my pops for the years of neglect so that would motivate me even if he was still a badass. Maybe if I told him I was gay and sparked him out with a left hook to the chin, I would finally get his attention.

I am joking for the most part, but there is a lot of truth to my feelings, lol.
