  • Jake Carr looks to continue his fast rise this Sat. on GFL

On Saturday, March 1st, fans around the WORLD will be able to get a glimpse of the future of Australian boxing exclusively on GFL.tv!

In the Main Event, Jake Carr (6-0) will face his toughest test to date when he squares off with rugged veteran Mohammed Akrong (19-6) over the course of 12 rounds.

The 23 year old Carr has been on a fast pace since turning pro in 2012, capturing the Australian Super Middleweight title in just his 5th pro fight against veteran trial horse Serge Yannick (15-3). At only (6-0) Carr is already rated #2 among Australian Super Middleweights, only behind current Super Middleweight Champion Sakio Bika. An impressive win over Akrong, infront of a Worldwide audience on GFL.tv, could position Carr nicely in the Super Middleweight division. Australia has already took notice in the young Carr but an impressive victory on saturday could put the WORLD on notice!

Carr's opponent Mohammed Akrong is in search of redemption following a 1st round stoppage loss to future World Champion Rocky Fielding (17-0). Akrong has his sights set on using his experience to upset the prodigy Carr in front of his hometown fans. With a victory Akrong will not only redeem himself but position himself for another big fight in 2014.

With the WORLD watching LIVE on GFL.tv, fans can most certainly expect both men to put in all on the line to make sure they impress the WORLD!

In the co-Main Event, Diana Prazak (12-2), who is trained by the famed women's fighter Lucia Rijker, will defend her WBC Super Featherweight title against fellow Australian Shannon O'Connell.

Prazak captured the WBC title from the previously undefeated Frieda Wallberg in Wallberg's home country of Sweden via devastating KO in the 8th round. Under the tutelage of Rijker, Prazak has learnede a lot since dropping a bid at the world title to former Women's top P4P fighter Holly Holm. A win for Prazak will not only solidfy her reign as WBC champ but make sure she is the #1 women's fighter in Australia.

Prazak's opponent O'Connell is coming off an on the road stoppage herself when he KO'd the undefeated Gabisile Tshabalala (8-0-1) in South Africa in her last fight. This Saturday, O'Connell has the chance to accomplish her dream of becoming World champion as well as the top women's fighter in Australia.

With everything on the line with the Challenger be able to withstand the pressure and cause an upset or will the champion prevail? While we may not be sure of that, one thing is for sure.
