One thing you can take to the bank: win or lose, Marciano will look like he had an industrial accident. Louis will land combinations right away. Some may knock Rocky down for a short count, but they will encourage Joe to open up, at which point he may get tagged by Susie-Q or the Rock's vicious lefhook. After that I see Joe's corner advising him to box, pick his shots and ...ahem!..., wait for the Rock to tire.

The Rock's skin may tire before he does. There will be a constant bombardment to break the bunkers of his chin which may result in shallower damage to ventillation. In quite a few scenarios where Joe fights correctly, Rocky simply loses on cuts.

Rocky could not hit a Louis out to avoid him, unless Joe's legs gave out. Because Joe does not normally employ so much leg motion, he will have needed to train that way, however, or he would tire and Rocky would be able to land.

Louis has too much killer instinct to fight "sissy" against the Rock. When he knows he is doing damage, he is coming in. The Rock will always have the chance to land the big one, as long as the ref lets him continue. He can even things out real fast if he does land big. He will have to land it in heavy incoming, or maybe there will be an instant's lull, allowing the listing warship to launch a nuclear warhead.

Rocky had a great chin and even more heart, not the best chin though. he went down from time to time. And got hurt, he always recouped though and that's a mental / conditioning type of thing.

Louis at his peak could put a lot of sharp hard shots together in close range, the range Rocky likes. Rocky is tricky though and in better shape than a guy like tony galento..so I think he drags the fight out and loses a decision. Either that or he actually gets stopped. I think Louis was just a better fighter than Rocky, a higher level. Rocky got his glory by bruising through some old savvy light heavys. They weren't even really easy fights for him.

Louis had competition just as weak, the only difference is he bulldozed all of them easily. A chin is a chin and Rocky is a face first fighter, can't see how he takes that kind of firepower from a real heavyweight. I get that Rocky generally nullified people power by crowding them, so it's not like he was taking flush blow after blow to the head - but Louis just knows how to get leverage up close like that. He would only need a few inches.

Marciano's style was tailor-made for Joe Louis.

He'd be game but would progressively get more and more busted up by the Bomber as the rounds went on.

Yeah I can't see prime for prime how rocky isn't going to get stopped by Louis, he will walk into those punches and eventually get cut. All old louis had that night against rocky was a jab and still took some time for rocky to put him away.
