He's a big boy about 6 foot and big like the same build as the Big Show, but not as athletic.

The reason I want him to become successful asap is because his moms a single parent and her health is declining fast so I want him to get his own life/career going ASAP so he doesn't have to rely on her at all and he's never been independent on his own.

He studied sports journalism in college, but I doubt thats a realistic career/industry for him because he'll probably just be interning (unpaid) for a few years and then go no where since that fields all about who you know. So I was thinking he should probably go into like law enforcement or something like that since he's got the bigger physical presence already.

What do you guys suggest? What are some of your jobs/career that someone can go into and make decent pay and benefits right away?

Thanks green K for serious responses/help.
I disagree with the notion that he should go into something quick. There isn't a rush for him to earn. He can be independent in school while borrowing.

One decent route is to land an internship in finance/stocks/etc. get a job with the company and work it for a couple years. After that, go back to school for an MBA or MPA. Becoming a truck driver or barber is just a waste of a person's potential in my opinion.

Or he can work in a restaurant tossing peoples' salads all day long.

      Cooks make good money tho.

      I'm just teasing.

He needs to find out what his best talents are and pursue a career in that field. Some people live miserable lives making great money at a job they hate.

      Just a thought.

Make him take an ASVAB test at a local UEI college or something.

After that; join the army; 46Q. Public Affairs Specialist. Not exactly sports journalism but roughly same shyt.

If he graduated college. He can join as e-3 enlisted (means more money). If he has a bachelor's he could probably just go to OCS and become an officer. Which gets more money, a little more responsibility but doesn't do shyt all day. Lol

He'll get medical and dental, get a steady salary and gain life experience.plus more career avenues, whether that is staying military or leaving with a pimped out resume and going to CNN or some shyt. 36Q is non-combat so you don't have to worry about him fighting wars.

Otherwise he can go to security guard school. If he sees the whole school out, and gets in good with the instructor, he could likely get NSA jobs. I only talked to an instructor and I guessed he liked me enough to be willing to get me into NSA. I didn't do the security shyt but if you network, or have a magnetic personality, it can get you places.

there is a rush for him since he's never been on his own or independent at all and he almost lost his single mother last year. her health is still pretty questionable so he needs to get his ish together ASAP or he might literally be on the streets if his mom should pass soon. obviously thats the worst case scenario but the three weeks she was in the hospital under going life saving surgery he was a terrible mess. he couldnt even obtain food to feed himself.

he needs to start earning his own income and saving it or at least paying bills and rent so he knows how to budget on his own.

Nah, I didn't get into NSA but the instructor I was talking to was willing to set me up with a chance to get in if I completed the course. I wasn't really interested in the security stuff so I ended up not doinng it. But if your nephew got in good with an instrucor I'm sure the same opportunity could happen.

The economy sucks right now.I know some people with bachelors working at walmarts and grocery stores cause their career field is dry.

So it helps to have an open mind. The military isn't all call of duty stuff. Same with security guard school, it's not just standing in a parking lot if you complete the whole course, NSA seems like a really good job. Federal too. So he's gonna get benefits.

If you go to school, you can live off loans; it's that simple. I spent 21 years of my life in school, finished last year, and now I'm earning quite a bit of money in my first year working. I never really even held a job before this year and I also come from a single parent situation without much money. Instant gratification is for the weak.

Hey guys update saw my nephew at Thanksgiving and he's doing well.

He got with some Dunder Mifflin type of corporate sales job selling like paper to corporate offices and he's making good money off of his first real job.

I am happy as hell for him but was bit shocked since I always knew him to be lazy and late. Kid falls asleep if he sits too long in the same place lol.

But he's dressing sharp bought new wardrobe and looks like a corporate guy now lol. Who would of thought huh?

It goes to show that those who aren't that smart and get good grades in school don't always fail in the real world.

Now all this kid has to do is get his own place and start paying rent and learning how to be on his own now.
