This is why boxing is no longer a sport, popular, or covered by the media...

99% of boxing matches are either mismatches which should never be made in the first place, or 2 name fighters but one is way past it and just a name.. 1 out of 10 fights are actually a competitive matchup on paper.. The rest all have huge underdog opponents..

A lot of this is on the fans though.

We hold loses against fighters way to harshly.

Nate Diaz just headlined a ppv fight on 2 weeks notice. .

His last 10 fights he was 5-5.

UFC fans were fine with it, boxing fans this never would of passed.

Thurman/Porter was supposed to be this weekend. Left a big hole in the schedule.

Difference is,,, boxers are protected with matchmaking so if you take a few L's then yeah considered a scrub,,, but in MMA you don't get the cherry picking, are matched tough, and so if you take some L's it really doesn't matter..

12-4 mma fighter is the same as the patriots going 12-4,, 12-4 boxer, you haven't fought anyone good so you must be a scrub..

Fans aren't stupid,, We see boxers not fighting anyone but getting hyped, whereas in mma and other sports, you actually have to take tough opponents on a regular basis

What? Hundreds of thousands of boxing fans paid to see Mayweather fight caveman Maidana, twice. To see Pac fight Rios. They're tuning in to watch Genady crush can after can. And, the piece de resistance; Kovalev fighting Pascal TWICE!! I do agree with you that fans are much too fickle about "winners" and not supporting guys who come to fight but to act as if there's such a huge difference in fanbases isn't correct. Boxing fans like their drama too. And, MMA fans turn on people too. Looks what they're doing to Rhonda and Connor. There isn't a great divide like there used to be.

meaningful? I'm still trying to figure out which one of these is actually meaningful. The all British lightweight clash maybe? Then again, Matthews is a journeyman and if Flanagan is actually world class, he should get through him with ease.

Rigo is in a joke of a fight, Lem v James doesn't mean much as there's probably 10 guys ahead in the line for a shot at the top 2 middleweights.

The fact that Judah is still fighting is ridiculous.

I agree. The second someone gets a loss, everything they've accomplished becomes a question. Were they even good in the first place? OH, they were fighting a top level fighter? Doesn't matter, he was a bum all along

What you said is bang on. There's almost no point in watching these fights and year after year it's becoming more irrelevant. At this point I think it's just a great way to launder money. These promoters don't even care anymore.
