Never really him mentioned.

He won the Heavyweight Gold Medal for Argentina at the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Got stopped on his debut. But went on to beat Maxie Rosenbloom, Arturo Godoy, and won the Argentina (FAB) heavyweight title.

But he didnt really reach what was being touted for him i feel. His final fight was a 1st round KO defeat to Archie Moore.

Impressive fighter. Finnish heavyweight Gunnar Bärlund beating him by a decision was seen as a big upset, considering that Lovell had beaten Bärlund in the amateurs. It made Bärlund a top ranked contender for Joe Louis's title.

On another note, the "other" Alberto Lovell who fought in the late 60's and early 70's was one of the worst boxers I ever got to witness.
