he split with TR and moved to 50 cent. 50 cent has done a horrible job with him.

cubans are hard to promote, but gamboa had a style that could have made for exciting fights. he's always been a knockout loss waiting to happen, but in spots he looked spectacular when he was at more reasonable weights and in his prime.


i think he had a pipe dream about fighting floyd mayweather. he pulled out of the rios fight, and signed with what was "tmt" when 50 cent and floyd jr were friends, thinking that he was a possible floyd opponent.

he's also past his prime for sure. tiny little guy in his 30's. higher weights than before. long layoffs. huge amateur career that took up most of his prime years. he's looked like SH#T lately


it's a shame, but he's all done. i just wish he and juanma fought when juanma was near his peak. the gun was jumped when people called those two top 10 p4p, but the fight would have been sensational, given the power and leaky defense.

He messed up when he signed with 50. He should have at least been smart and signed with Haymon that way he would have secured fights down the line. Him signing with a guy that knows jack sh/t about boxing politics was a very bad move.
