  • Comments Thread For: DeMarco Will Return Strong, Maybe at 140, Says Shaw

In one breath, promoter Gary Shaw praised his own fighter, Antonio DeMarco, as “the Mexican Arturo Gatti.” In the next, he complimented the boxer who had just defeated DeMarco handily, comparing Adrien Broner to another great boxer who had destroyed Gatti seven years ago.

“I think Antonio DeMarco fought the best 135-pounder that I’ve seen of recent times in Adrien Broner, and if the press isn’t ready, I will crown him the next Floyd Mayweather. He’s that good,” Shaw said at the post-fight press conference in Atlantic City.

he had a bad style in front of him with Broner
Linares was beating him, he was just cutting the guy's face up
Demarco is still viable, he didn't take a terrible beating
but he won't beat boxers who have inside game
he was too slow from outside and picked apart in the pocket

DeMarco/Burns would be a good fight, both tall and rangy.
Broner, on this showing, is too good for anyone at 135 and should just head straight to 140.
