In order to be the greatest ever you have to first be the greatest in a decade...Floyd is not even the greatest in a decade . The greatest fighter ever doesn't preserve health.

This current Generation and the young fans and fighters coming up after him will for sure...I don't a boxing historian or someone who have seen many different decades of boxing will though

But no question the younger generation/next generation will hold Mayweather as the BLUEPRINT TO SUCCESS IN BOXING!

Seriously, how great can you be if you have yet to face a prime legit hall of fame opponent? Look at all the true all time greats, almost all of them have faced prime legit hall of fame opposition.
It's ironic that most of Floyd's opponents, at whatever time he faced them were claimed by both fans and experts alike to have been able to beat Floyd at the time he faced them, yet they came up short every time.

Perhaps if Floyd had knocked out every opponent he faced regardless of the time he faced them, he might be given more of a pass?

If you can remember, some in-prime opponents chose not to face Floyd when he was ready for them with the exception of Margarito.

There's absolutely nobody from 140-160 that would be favored to beat Floyd.

After Floyd Mayweather, the 10 best fighters IMO from 140-160 are:

                /=Tied

                1. Martinez
                2. Marquez
                3. Lara
                4. Bradley/Pacquiao
                6. Cotto/Canelo
                8. Alexander
                9. Garcia
                10. Peterson

Floyd already beat 2 of them. The other 8 would generally not be favored to beat Floyd, that's just what the odds would say, not even Martinez or Lara but they would definitely come the closest to possibly beating him. The rest, at best would win 4 rounds. For you to get your wish of Floyd fighting a guy who he is not favored against, Floyd would have to go up to 168. And even then, not all 168 top 10 contenders would be favored against Floyd. And this is a guy who was at his best and most prime form as a Super Featherweight, and I think he would actually be favored against some legit 168 pounders. He would definitely be favored against every current MW. This is a former SFW we're talking about here.

Just look at it now. You have Broner who is young, talented and well on his way to being a top dog and everyone can't help but say "He may act and talk like him but he is NOOO Floyd" He will at least be regarded as top 10.

Its easy to look great, and like the most skilled fighter of all time, when your fighting sub par competition.

What people don't realize they're doing when they discredit a Floyd opponent, who have consistently been top 1-3 since 2006-present, is that they themselves are putting him on a pedestal, unknowingly.

Baldomir, known as Floyd's worst opponent from the mid 2000s-present, was ranked as the Ring Champion at WW when Floyd fought him. DLH #3 JMW. Hatton JWW Ring Champion, #7 P4P. Marquez #2P4P, LW Ring Champion. Mosley Lineal[not the same as Ring] #3 P4P, #2 WW. Ortiz #3 WW. Cotto #1 JMW.

Consistently fought #1-3 since 2006. And won. Can't say the same about every boxer.
