Do try and think things through and read the original premise of the thread before making judgements.

Williams vs Lara, onesided win for Lara despite the lump on his head.
The stats according to HBO before the decision was announced:

    Total Punches [thrown/landed] :

    Pacquiao vs Marquez

    176/578 138/436
    30% 32%

    Total Power Punches [thrown/landed] :

    Pacquiao vs Marquez

    117/274 100/254
    43% 39%

    Final Punchzone Stats:

    [Landed on]

    Pacquiao vs Marquez

    95 (head) 149 (head)
    43 (body) 17 (body)
    138 (total) 166 (total)

These are the stats as reported by compubox website:

    Pacquiao vs Marquez

Total Punches [thrown/landed] Jabs [t/l] Power Punches [t/l]

    176/578 59/304 117/274
    30% 19% 43%

    138/436 38/182 100/254
    32% 21% 39%

I'll let you guys catch the error & figure out the percentages that support what the TS was relating to (didn't think Pac landed as many) & how it affects the perception/effectivenes/closeness of the performance. The comparison to Williams vs Lara isn't even close to the number of punches thrown (Williams threw 100% more than Lara & the diff landed is much higher 23% vs 2% or 3% for this fight).

Keep in mind these are just #s anyways & their reliability is fairly subjective (unless u watch in slo mo/3d/etc...). Ha!

Always a good idea to show the full picture if the info is readily available. Unfortunately I don't have the power yet to include the images.

    Ponder away...

I understand the compubox figures, but what is the point he is trying to prove?

            Marquez 138 / 436 Total 100 / 254 Power

I guess this is not helping your theory.
But the stats for the Pac/JMM rematch doesn't help your theory that this is all about who lands more.

            Pacquiao 157 / 619 Total (25%) 114 / 305 Power (37%)

            Marquez 172 / 511 Total (34%) 130 / 310 Power (42%)

Marquez landed more punches and more power punches than Pacquiao in the rematch. He also had a higher connect %. Lederman scored it 115-112 for Pacquiao so clearly it's not about who lands more punches.

I've made no theory on this subject.

I know there is more to pro boxing than punches, thrown or landed.

But you still don't agree that HBO analysts contradict themselves?

I agree TS the HBO analyst were riding pac's di.ck all night long. It was disgusting and Lampley's Mexican comment was downright racist. Almost everybody in the Arena booed the decision. JMM won that fight.

By favoring quality over quantity in one fight and quantity over quality in another.
