  • Comments Thread For: Wilder Might Fight 7/13 in Brooklyn; No Chisora Yet

Heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder could potentially be fighting on July 13 in New York City, rather than heading to the United Kingdom to face Dereck Chisora, according to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer.

“Deontay is going to be fighting here in the U.S. Deontay had some legal issues he had to deal with, so it’s not a good time to travel right now,” Schaefer said, a nod toward Wilder’s arrest in Las Vegas earlier this month on a domestic violence charge. In addition, the premature announcement of a bout between Wilder and Chisora has been well chronicled on this website.

If GBP and Wilder are serious its time to step up in class. Chisora would be a step in the right direction to be fair. He's knocked out enough tomato cans now, lets see if he's for real.

When Frank warren announced this fight I was on here laughing and remember saying he would sell those tickets and then Chisora would end up fighting some European illegal immigrant.. Yep I called it right!

          Agreed.

Like him or not, Wilder does add some excitement to an otherwise boring weight division. If not Chisora, maybe someone like Stiverne or Banks. Somebody at least halfway relevant with a punch.

I think he could take Areoloa personally . i know he can beat up anybody , he needs to be tested. he makes it look so easy people blame the competition

              Chisora can't fight

Chisora is not a good fighter, B-level fighter. All Chisora does is try to scare you with his mouth. Like he tried with David Hayed and it backfired. Chisora is a bum, Deontay Wilder will KO Chisora, KO #29 in a row for DW.

maybe Wilder's been making it look so easy, because of the opposition he's faced. For a guy with as many pro fights as he's had (27) and to still be considered a prospect speaks volumes as to how soft Wilder has been matched

**look at Erislandy Lara and Rigondeaux, the two have a combined 32 pro fights, but have fought at a much higher level of competition.

despite Wilder's 27-0 record, you can't say the same.

Deontay Wilder does not have the pedigree as Rigondeaux and Lara, who both have tremendous amateur experience, world championships and olympic gold metalists. Rigo and Lara are both savvy. Deontay Wilder lacks amateur experience, needs to work on a few things.

Did Wilder not win a Bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics ?
