      1972:

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars - David Bowie

Exile on Main St. - Rolling Stones

      Ege Bamyasi - Can

      Wishbone Ash - Argus

      Can't Buy a Thrill - Steely Dan

      Neu! - Neu!

      Pink Moon - Nick Drake

      Lou Reed - Transformer

That's more than 5, but what a year!

        I love you.

Shít, I just realized I already had made a year-by-year list with the top 5 from almost every year. Here it is for whoever may be interested:
        https://rateyourmusic.com/list/nebul...__1950_to_2006

It may be a bit out-of-date though.

Great list, and you reminded me that Zeit belonged in my 1972 lineup!

You also reminded me that I need to start listening to The Jesus and Mary Chain.

****genic, what an album. On the subject of Thom Yorke, he said that this was the most beautiful piece of music he'd heard:

Zeit! What an album. A real experience. I've got the original Ohr release, and I cherish it.

            I'll do a top 10 for '72 because you're right, it's one hell of a year.

            1. Tangerine Dream - Zeit
            2. Faust - So Far
            3. Neu! - Neu!
            4. Fela Kuti - Shakara
            5. Nick Drake - Pink Moon
            6. Os Novos Baianos - Acabou Chorare
            7. Can - Ege Bamyasi
            8. Caetano Veloso - Transa
            9. The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
            10. Roxy Music - Roxy Music
(Actually number 10 might be Milton Nascimento & Lô Borges - Clube da Esquina, I can't decide)

It's probably totally inconsistent with my top 5 in that list I linked to though. I don't know man, I could do the same list 10 times in the same day and come up with 10 unique lists.

              2. Marquee Moon - Television
              3. Aja - Steely Dan
              4. Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
              5. Rocket to Russia - Ramones

(Also Pink Flag by Wire, Never Mind the Bollocks by Sex Pistols)

Edit: I forgot My Aim is True by Elvis Costello, that would have to be in the top 5
It took me a while to get into Steely Dan for some reason, but I like them a lot now. I'm going to see them in concert in August.

You have good taste in music. I am pretty big into Krautrock like Can and Tangerine Dream myself. Have you ever heard the album "Wintrup" by Kraan? It's one of my favorites.

I hope your conscience EATS AT YOU and you can't BREATHE without me
See Slim; [*screaming*] Shut up *****! I'm trying to talk!
Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screaming in the trunk
but I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you
cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die too
Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now
                  Oh ****, I forgot, how'm I supposed to send this **** out?
                  [car tires squeal] [CRASH]
.. [brief silence] .. [LOUD splash]

Oddly enough I hadn't even heard of that one before, thanks! I'll give it a listen. There are some other lesser-known krautrock groups like The Cosmic Jokers and Ash Ra Tempel which warrant a listen too if you haven't heard them (especially Ash Ra Tempel), but those aren't as obscure as Kraan appear to be.

For any rap fan 1994 is EXTREMELY hard to beat.

                      Nas - Illmatic
                      Notorious BIG- Ready to Die
                      Method Man - Tical
                      Gangstarr- Hard 2 Earn

Biggy and Nas are easily 2 of the top 5 rappers ever and these were their BEST albums. Method Man is a beast and this was his best work. Same with Gangstarr the most underrated rap group ever!
