I made the statement, have any of those celebrating NK's leaders death ever met him. Many took this at face value and didn't understand -- but the underlying suggestion is, if you haven't based your hatred on personal experiences, then what is the basis of your hatred?

Kim Jong Il was what he was ... period. I do not have enough independent information about him to offer and opinion or to make judgment. All I have is the words of the media and the Government, who have an extensive history of fostering false evidence against foreign leaders.

There was use of depleted uranium rounds which is used as it is an especially dense material making useful in armour piercing munitions. This is not a violation of the Geneva convention or international law which prohibits use of materials designed to "poison or asphyxiate". Interestingly nuclear weapons are not forbidden by international treaty for the same reason.

The issue with depleted uranium is that there is no scientific consensus at this time of its lasting effects. Until such time as a consensus exists, and one seems likely, then regardless of the morality of the use of those weapons they are not in contravention of any treaty or convention.

So, I guess its OK to use it in a foreign country -- since the long-term effects are undocumented and uncertain.

On a sidenote, his son has been groomed to be just like his daddy .... so whatever the conditions are, its not likely to change much in the future. It is also, unlikely the 38th parallel will be dissolved and the two Korea's re-united.
