  • Bauwens - Nieto postfight controversy.

Last friday, Ruben Nieto, spain (12/0/0) fought J.P. Bauwens, belgium (25/0/1) in Gent, Belgium. After a twelve rounds war, the spaniard won the UE ebu belt on points, improving his record to (13/0).

Nothing weird, but after the fight, surrealism get to his peak. Nieto started to fell dizzy and to puke, when the man in charge for the antidoping test come to do his work, the spaniard cant pee, so he is forced to drink water. He keeps puking every drop of water. Then, spaniard's trainer, Luis Coraje, ask for an ambulance to go to an hospital, but belgians disagree, so the spaniards WALK to the hospital on his own, with the antidoping test man on his feet, asking for Nieto's pee.

In the hospital, doctors said Nieto was dehydrated, and scans show a little brain hemorrage, so he had to stay in hospital. Nieto can pee at 6:00 AM, in hospital and finally gave his orine tests.

Ok. we are not finished. Next day, police enters in the hospital room, saying P&J Events sued Nieto, because the spaniard weight more on fight night than the day before on the scales. Yes, they are sueing him for that. And maybe someone can think Nieto regain 25 pounds or something like that, but the truth is Nieto regain 8 pounds. 8 ****ing pounds.

Nieto stays in the hospital right now, doctors keep doing scans, and atleast he will be there till friday. No one of J&P Events ask for him in the hospital, no one cares.

So, we have a promoter who denied the ambulance to a fighter with all syntoms of brain hemorrage, then send the police to his hospital room, where they have to go walking, and all because he regained 8 ponds.

J&P should stop to promote boxing, those ****ing scumbags.

There you have the fight, which was really a war, only thing you can save of this.

thats a very interesting story - it sounds like the Belgiums were out of order.. I think they must have suspected Nieto was pretending, trying to get out of the drug test. But still, you need to follow a strict protocol if a fighter is showing signs of injury after a fight. They should get sued themselves for this, their conduct sounds like it was very poor. You must put fighter's safety above all other things - even if you think he is acting, you can't risk anyone's life like this. They should be shut down.
