I was just wondering how this fight would go...one of the first "super-heavyweights" vs. one of the smallest guys ever to go for the title. I think Conn could dance around Willard, but if Big Jess' uppercut catches him, it could be over.

Conn's skills dwarf Willard. However, Willard's size dwarfs Conn. I see Conn totally outboxing Willard, with the biggest danger being him tiring badly late from all the movement he would need to stay away from the big guy's power.Comment

If it goes 20-30 rounds Willard would have a chance but Conn would outbox Willard if it's for 10 or 15 rounds.Comment

Most will probably favour Conn, but I'm not so sure. One of the few genuinely great traits Willard had was a fine uppercut --- an excellent weapon against a smaller man trying to close range. Willard also had great staying power & composure...he would be cocked & ready to land the big one from first minute to last.
Of course, landing said punch would be no sure thing. Close bout...Comment
