  • Was Oscar just using Pacman as bait for Prettyboy

Oscar's original dance partner was supposed to be Mayweather, and he was supposed to have two more fights before he retires, so everyone thought that he's eyeing a Cotto fight as well.

Then Mayweather retired and Cotto's ass got owned so he then scrambled to try to salvage at least one more big money fight...trying to get Hatton to dance with him but the Englishman told him to **** off.

Mayweather was willing to fight him but money was the question and Dela Hoya wasn't going to give him a 50-50 share. So he tries bating Mayweather back by showing how far he's willing to bend profit sharing-wise. A 70-30 sharing was dangled to Pacquiao. It was purportedly a sharing that was bigger than what Mayweather got in their first fight. When Pacquiao insisted on 60-40, they tried to soften Pacman's stance by agreeing on the glove size and weight, all the while keeping the sharing dangling just enough to bait Mayweather into resuming talks. Dela Hoya of course doesn't really want to go through with the Pacman fight. He gains nothing from it legacy-wise because it won't look good to end his career fighting a smaller man. Losing of course would make his legacy even more atrocious - being retired by a smaller man. So all these press release about percentages are all about baiting Mayweather back to the table - why do you think there's so much publicity on the figures of the Dela Hoya-Pacman sharing? This would probably go as low as 65-35, there was even an interesting proposition of a winner-takes-10%-more. And just to make sure Floyd sees that Oscar's got other options, Oscar now opens talks with Paul Williams - another fight I doubt Oscar would take.

Oscar fed the Oscar-Pac hype just enough to make it seem like it will happen. He even told his buddy Schaefer "not to kill the deal", but why contradict himself by not budging from a small percentage? That's money he doesn't even need. We have this saying, "If you really want something so bad, there's always a way, if you don't, there's always an excuse".
