It wasn't the system in the way it was originally intended. It was the de regulation of wall street which allowed these things to happen. Human greed caused this.

well the system failed because it lacked the regulations needed. that's a fact. the system was flawed because it allowed people to take advantage of it. a lot of the people who started deregulation were friends of people or were people that could make a lot of money from deregulation.
so the system is highly flawed.
