if you go back to virtually every era outside of this one that has not been the case.

our best large athletes play football and basketball now. they used to box. those guys are almost exclusively HW

the HW division used to be the biggest / only meaningful division in boxing for the casual fan.

the HW championship was the biggest sporting event on the planet, and the top ten most popular athletes were exclusively top 10 HW and baseball players.

maybe a racing horse might be a bit more well known, but otherwise it was american HW and baseball players.

wladimir's first fight with brewster was high contact, but mostly because wladimir came out like a bat out of hell and shot his load and then took a beating.

chisora was a rough fight for the aging vitali
arreola got the trash kicked out of him

and outside of a few hard shots and VK having to straight up bike ride away from sanders on a few occasions, sanders got the truck beat out of him and didnt do much

at that stage in his career he was a scratch golfer, lol
he hardly trained!
