Vitali looked slightly better in those 6 rounds. We can argue they were equal in that fight - Lennox said the same in his interview. I believe if Vitali's skin was more durable he would won either by points or by late stoppage - but it is irrelevant. Anyone could have a different opinion on fight - for me it really didn't prove much in terms who was better at that point.

I really don't understand this constant urge to discuss how Lennox won that fight... uuu he destroyed vitali, uuu what would "a young lennox" do, uuu this or that.... IT IS WHAT IT IS. LENNOX WON DUE TO BAD CUT!

Btw. If I am not wrong the author of this thread said how Vitali was giving 'a secret signs' to his trainer to stop the fight and how he preformed an artificial scene when he was so revealed the fight is stopped....
    No need to comment!
It is completely untrue that Lewis said any such thing. I have the fight and the interview. Larry Merchant spent 15 solid minutes trying to get Lewis to admit than Klitschko was a good fighter, and much better than Lewis thought him to be. He failed. He pinned Lewis time after time, and he answered with denigrations of Klitscko. All that Lewis would finally grudgingly admit, was that "...he "did" a little better than i thought...'"
    "
In the interview a couple of days BEFORE the fight, Lewis was at his egotistical peak. From ".... I'm like fine wine, I get better as I get older.." to "...I'm the only pugilist specialist..." to "....I eat a Klitschko for breakfast and the other one for lunch..." to "....I'm the people's champion, the real world champion, because I've fought in several countries around the world..." { he actually fought in only 5 countries, the vast majority in The US, a few in England where he was born and grew up, 1 in Ireland, next door to England, 1 in South Africa, and 1 in Canada where he lived for years, representing them in the Olympics). So he really wasn't any kind of "world traveller".... Just his normal boasting}.

And, as usual, when talking about himself, he was deadly serious.......

That picture is actually faked. No blood during a fight trickles down in a SINGLE straight line. The blood on Klitscko's face was actually not very noticeable, no strem, it was smudged over his cheek because of Lewis's glove spreading it. There was NO blood from the bruise, and there were 2 slight "paper'cuts under his left eye. His eye itself was completely undamaged, but he had a cut across the fleshy part of his eyebrow, which looked a lot worse than it actually was.

It has been forgotten now, but at the time, his corner AND the commentators, were asking why was the fight stopped after the sixth, when the cut was completely ubder control and not even bleeding from the 4th rd on.

The doctor later gave 3 different reasons for stopping it, changing his story when he realised how silly each sounded in view of the facts.

10 days later, Klitschko appeared on a special YV interview just to show his "cut" that was made such a fuss of. It had healed and was already invisible. The camera zoomed in on this, at his request. He was still annoyed at the stoppage.

Fake picture? Cut under control? LOL

Look at the damn hole in his eyebrow, there's also a cut under that one above his eyelid not to mention cuts on his cheek and in his mouth. It wasn't an unlucky cut it's multiple cuts caused from getting caught by big shots over and over, his face was only going to get worse.

All Klitschko denigrators, and boxing ignoramuses use this description. In actual fact, to best way to get an eye to come out (IT WILL NEVER FALL OUT) is to scoop it out with a spoon, or, more messy, to stick a thumb in the corner of the eye and scoop under it, to force it out. At the same time, the other hand must be holding hard to the guy's hair, becuase at the first touch to the eye, he'll jerk his head away.

I think a little practice with a few eyes first is needed......

All that was wrong with Klitschko was a diagonal cut across the fleshy part of the eyebrow hair, which looked a lot worse than it actually was. His eye was untouched, a little bruise under it, no swelling, could open his eyelid perfectly well. When he realises what has happened, you can see in the video, even in the malicious photos published, that his eye is wide open, glaring in rage at everybody.

          The doctor was a fool.

We will never know and this fight will be debated forever among fans, plenty of things could have happened later in the fight but Lewis won fair and square but its too bad he declined the rematch and hung them up.

I don't mean in the interview after the fight.

Look at this one when Lennox compares the levels of himself and Vitali (4:43).
Of course he continued talking that he would do better if he trained more but we are talking about the fight itself...

Vitalis eye would have lost. It was a clean win for Lennox. People win on cuts all the time.

and I voted for Lennox (aka "old Lennox")...

No way vitali's eye would have survived till the end. Actually he might even won that fight (I don't think Lennox would ever KOe him) but that would cost him his career. Good call from referees to stop the fight.
