both fighters arguably the best athletes boxing has ever seen...however many ppl argue that rjj acting rapping and basketball playing caused that 180 in his boxing career. my question is why not pac? he sings, acts, hoops, and he's a politician! yet his career(boxing) is on fire! can't really say one is more gifted than the other athletic wise, so what's the deal... your thoughts.... btw roy, that one scene in the matrix sucked!

What ruined Roy IMO was the move to Heavyweight for one fight and then coming back down to Light Heavyweight his very next fight to face Tarver. That messed up his reflexes and conditioning.

rapping acting and bball had nothing to do with Roy's decline. He just got older and wasn't able to dodge the punches anymore

He passed his sell by date and didn't have enough good people around him to tell him so. Now's he getting damaged when he should be enjoying the fruits of his labor.

Roy will always be a great, but for me he has definitely damaged his legacy by fighting on like this.

Nope, thats not what it was.

Antonio McDyess was one of my customers, and he is a boxing fan.

He told me that Roy Jones dropping back down to Lt. HEavy after Ruiz so fast is what ended his career.

He said there is no healthy way to lose that much muscle, that fast.

Do you think its just a coincidence that his very first fight after Ruiz, he looked like crap? No. That is what cut his career short.

Are you insinuating that Manny is on PED's therefore he doing all these thing without a decline in his performance? Remember, RJJ is a convicted PED user himself. Key word being convicted.

Cosign and agree with this. Roy was never same after the drop down in weight; the damage was done killing his body to get back down for the first Tarver fight. All his key attributes (speed & reflexes) diminished, RJJ no longer had the cat like reaction time which we saw him do time and time again prior to the move to HW.
