  • Murderers' Row, How good were these guys?

Came across a Charles Burley footage yesterday, on Youtube. And I enjoyed the way it was analysed.

Charles Burley was in a group called 'The Murderer's Row', consisting of a number of other boxers.

Apparently, most of them were ducked, and dodged by the top fighters of that era (SRR, Rocky Graziano, etc).

How good were these guys? And is it more than just a legend?

By the way, this is what makes boxing so beautiful. The rich history behind the sport is just amazing. Just a shame a lot of people don't see it.

    They were pretty damn good.

Charley Burley, Lloyd Marshall, Eddie Booker, Cocoa Kid, Holman Williams, Jack Chase, Bert Lytell, Jimmy Bivins the list goes on.

Guys like Eddie Booker and Bert Lytell are first ballot HOF'ers who are yet to be inducted. Cocoa Kid was just inducted this year after a long long long time coming.

They're are all tough tough guys and exceptional fighters. Ranging from sure fire ATG to boaderline ATG.

And yes, they were ducked a lot of the time. Robinson ducked both Burley and Cocoa Kid.

For some good insight into the career of Burley and others of the BMR you should look into this book. Its an enjoyable read and very informative as to the times and what these men had to go through.
