In terms of facing GGG he's a more interesting style. But Murray and Macklin are clearly better wins in the middleweight division.
Macklin should, or at least could, have got the decision against Sturm. And he was ahead on the cards going into the 11th round against Sergio. He was also coming off a first round knockout win when he fought Golovkin.
Murray got a draw with Sturm, and probably would have got the win over Sergio if that fight was anywhere except Argentina.
Neither of them particularly excite me as fighters, and stylistically the Lara fight answers more questions about GGG for me as well. But they are solid wins at 160 and they show how far ahead of the pack Golovkin is.
