Vitaliy's greatest achievement was exactly that --

He made the GREAT Lewis look like an OLD, SHOT fighter, and put him to the RETIREMENT. Lewis could never recover; he wanted Vitali no more, not even for 25 M, and Lewis broke his own promise made on TV to give Vitaliy a rematch. NOONE had called Lewis OLD and SHOT before his fight with Vitali.

In a similar fashion, Vitali made Sam Peter look like and OLD, SHOT fighter, and DERAILED his career. He made look Sam Peter look like a BUM, the same Sam Peter who had just out-boxed James Toney. NOONE had called Peter a BUM before his fight with Vitali.

Finally, it is YOU who keeps bringing up Lewis up. Lewis was a GREAT fighter. He is retired now. So please just move on, and embrace at least for a while the fact that Britain does not have any heavyweights WITH BALLS.

Lewis did what all great champs do at the end of their careers: when they seem down and out, they come from behind and pull off a great victory. Klitschko's face was an absolute mess. Lewis knew he couldn't make 12 rounds, so he threw bombs to get Vitali out of there. It wasn't pretty, but it worked. All that matters is the W. Lewis knew his time was over, so he retired and stayed retired, which was a good decision. There's no reason to take a beating when you know you don't have it anymore. There's absolutely nothing bad you can say about his decision to retire. More fighters should know when to call it quits and stay out of the sport like he did. Too many times guys come back and take beatings and only tarnish their legacy. As for Vitali, he showed he was near the top of the sport. But his face was an absolute disaster and the stoppage was the right choice. He lost, fair and square. There was nothing controversial about stopping that fight. Lewis was pounding his face, badly. Those uppercuts were disturbing.

          THE TRUTH

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was hurt several times in the fight.

          punches landed

          Vitali 156

          Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted and worn down from the accumulation of punches, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

Vitali intimidated the **** out of the scared Lewis after the fight and made him look like a *****. All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and boo'd Lewis after the fight.

          Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 25 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.
You forgot the most important stat...Lennox Lewis TKO 6 Vitali Klitschko. Are all Klit's fans big whiners?

            .
There were talks of Lennox retiring after 2002 when he achieved his ultimate goal of beating Mike Tyson. He had done all he wanted to do at that point.

He did not fight for an entire year after that and was obviously not serious about boxing because he came in fat and 10 lbs overweight. The only reason he got off his ass was because they were set to strip his titles if he didnt face Kirk/Vitali.

If Lennox were to beat Vitali a second, time, his Legacy wouldnt improve by much. The public would consider it the same as when he destroyed Golota in 1 round, take it for granted, and ask him to face the next guy in line.

So there is little to gain(legacy wise) if he wins, and everyhting to lose, if he gets beat. Easy decision for a 40 year old..

            But if he were to

Don't bend it. He came 5 pounds overweight, which is not a bid deal for a 250 pound guy.

Nobody is questioning that Lewis won that night, but dismissing Vitali's great performance against the great Lewis is a completely disgusting thing to do.

Even they know deep down that the klits dont compare with the true ATG heavyweights, they fail to see the actual reasons behind this and the majority of them only see skin colour-which is very sad

They are also mad that the klits dont get this apparent 'recognition' they deserve

Im not sure what they want to happen.would they like a red carpet rolled out for them and for everyone in the boxing world to suck there dicks just like they do,everytime they beat up an overmatched opponent?

do you consider it sad how the lewis fight is brought up every couple of weeks, like theres nothing else Klitschko fans can be proud of?

                  I think it's sad
I guess that you don't realize that it's not the fact that he 'lasted a few rounds', it's that he was beating the piss out of him and was going to knock him out had the fight continued. He almost did in the second round and was prepared to go all 12 with the best heavyweight since Ali. That's saying something whether nitwits like you choose to understand it or not.

Had Vitali had the time to prepare for the undisputed champ at the time, he would have defeated Lewis without question.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
