Cops: Children Make Gruesome Discovery Of Mother's Body
fugitives,Jamal Freeman | Cops say Jamal Freeman killed his girlfriend and mother of three Cynthia Chavez on July 11 2010
Cops say Jamal Freeman killed his girlfriend -- and mother of three -- Cynthia Chavez on July 11, 2010.
Cops say Cynthia Chavez had an on-again, off-again relationship with Jamal Rashan Freeman. But for the sake of her three kids – one of them Freeman’s – she decided to give the relationship another shot. But what cops say Cynthia couldn’t have known is that the reconnection may have cost the young mother her life.
Police say Freeman had moved into Cynthia’s apartment in the 3900 block of Sherwood Forest Drive in Dallas. They say on July 11, 2010, the couple got into a fight before Cynthia was supposed to go to work at the local Target store. But they say Cynthia never made it to work that day.
Authorities say after Cynthia’s mother had picked up the three kids from the house, Freeman exploded and shot the mother of his child to death. They say after hearing Cynthia never showed up at work, Cynthia’s mother decided to do a welfare check on her daughter – and witnessed a scene no mother should ever see.
Cops say the children ran into the bedroom to find their mother in a pool of blood – but Freeman was nowhere to be found.
Now, police and U.S. Marshals in the Lone Star state are on a manhunt for the 30-year-old accused killer who they think could be anywhere in the southern United States.

Authorities tell AMW they know exactly where Freeman went after fleeing – because the alleged murderer got busted for marijuana less than a week later in Baker, La. They say there wasn’t enough evidence to obtain a murder warrant at the time, and Freeman was released from the Louisiana jail within 24 hours.
Cops are determined not to let this accused killer slip through their fingers again, and now they need the public’s tips to put him back behind bars.
Jamal Rashan Freeman stands at 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs around 145 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. Cops say he’s been known to wear his hair in cornrows but could have shaved it off to conceal his identity. They say he could also have a beard or goatee. When he was booked into jail, cops in Louisiana say they saw a tattoo of “S.O.S.” on the accused murderer’s right arm.
One thing cops are sure of about Freeman: He likes to get around.
“He’s kind of a mystery and no one knows a whole lot about him, but he does like to travel,” said Detective Fidel Perez of the Dallas Police Department. “He was also arrested in 2006 in Georgia before this Louisiana charge, and now he’s just vanished.”
Police aren’t sure if the accused killer would return to Georgia, but they do believe he’s hiding somewhere in the South – which gives them a lot of ground to cover.
