It's actually a terrible film. It's disturbing and not good at all. It has reached cult status.

I downloaded it out of curiosity.



The original novel is by The Marquis De Sade, where the term "sadism" comes from.

Yeah, Marquis De Sade was an epic historical figure. He was an aristocratic libertine who abused prostitutes and did a bunch of awesome things. He wrote disgusting books and poems while in prison.

Cradle of Filth's "Babalon AD" music video drew inspiration from Salò. The music video was banned because of it's inspiration--the content wasn't worth banning, although crappy video and crappy song.
