  • Who does Paul Williams need to fight to play the role of Tommy Hearns

to Floyd Mayweather's Ray Leonard and Manny Pacquiao's Roberto Duran?

    1. Is it too late for Williams to be in the picture with these guys?

    2. Did he hurt his chances with moving up to MW?

    3. What's a good fight(s) to finally get him noticed?

    4. Does Williams even deserve to be in the mix (is he a worthy opponent)?

If he would have stayed at 147 he would have forced his way to be worthy opponent, imo.

Probably too late but if he were to fight at 147, fight and beat berto/mosley that would help a great deal. But his chances of landing those fights are very small, which is a result of leaving a weight class. Once you leave you're no longer ranked there and fighters will have a valid excuse to not turn down the fight - why should they fight a guy who recently only fights in heavier weight classes?

He needs to fight time, his lack of skill/technique and his knack of leaning into punches.

Agree 100 percent here. Not only that but I'm sure it will hurt him to move back down at this point...

Yep, I'm afraid Paul will get "exposed" before he has a chance to face either guy.

He could be the Hearns and Martinez could be the Hagler, especially seeing as Mayweather has confessed to thinking of facing him. Williams needs to have a fight at 147 to be in the picture, he can't keep fighting at higher weights and expect people to take him seriously for a fight at 147.

P-Willy vs. Kirkland will be a BARNBURNER!!!!!!!!!!

Definately two of the best US fighters going at it.....

You're missing the point of this.

I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to cry "they're not the same, they don't fight the same"....

Would have liked to see him fight Kelly Pavlik...I think Williams/Mosley at 154 would be a good one

P Willy just needs to stay at 154 and dominate that division. There are and will be decent fights for him at that weight.

Possible opponents at 154: Miguel Cotto, Foreman, Angulo, Martinez, Margarito, etc...
