It's funny De La Hoya would have gotten more credit and enhance his legacy more, if he had fought and beat Margarito in December 2008, instead of cherrypicking Pacquiao and having that decision completely backfire in the worst possible way. From weight issues, to Pacquiao stopping him, it was just embarrassing. He should have fought Margarito who was looked at as some kind of beast that was supposed to destroy any one, but ended up being tamed very easily by Mosley just a couple months after DLH was embarrassingly stopped by a cherrypicked opponent.

yeah but you could also argue that he won the Mosley rematch. While Shane was on the juuice, even.

The mayweather and pacquiao wins wouldn't mean as much because they became huge after they beat him. But beating mosley Trinidad.. and really beating Whitaker would make him the goat @ the lower weights. And beating Hopkins @ 160???? Hard to find a resume that's that deep in world class talent and skill.

The Bricked Glove Margarito that fought Cotto in 2008 vs the lifeless shell of himself Oscar that fought Pacquiao in 2008 would have defeated the drained skeleton that was De la hoya. But I don't think he "ducked" him....

And anyways Oscar already knocked out Margarito.......in his music video.

What?! Mayweather was P4P #1, Pacquiao was P4P #1...Beating them would have been huge. Beating those 2 would have been bigger than beating Hopkins IMO.

I agree with the rest of your post

I'll do what a Cotto stan does...

2 of his loses shouldn't count. He lost to two cheaters so his record should really be 39-4.
