  • British Nazi Germany alliance vs the world

One of Hitler’s main foreign policy aims during his time as German leader was to create a British German alliance. Hitler believed that Britain’s rule of India was proof of Western European superiority. Despite what many people believe Hitler admired Britain and never wanted war against them at all. Hitler believed that the 2 main enemies to Europe were Russia and America, Hitler thought of Britain as a colonialist military power and believed that they would sign with him in the Polish debate.

Politically this would never have happened but if Hitler had been able to sign his Anglo German alliance could this have been able to defeat both Russia and America? If Japan joined the Alliance America would have to take on both the Royal Navy and the Japanese Navy. And Russia would be alone to face the German army.

Hitler's treaties were not worth the paper they were written on.

In my opinion, while Hitler took many of his ideals from colonial British Empire, he would never have a solid alliance with the brits. He was simply looking to have some time advantage and not having to fight on two fronts. He would eventually attack GB either way.

          Most likely.

And it's a bit like George Orwell's 1985 Britain is safe from invasion, more by it's thousands of years of history, language and culture than by the stretches of water that surround it. Britain could never be assimilated.

If Germany made a concerted effort to invade Britain they probably could have. It's a tiny country.

I'm going to Hamburg on Friday to watch football with the anti-fascist fans there and meet some cool people.

We'll be drinking great beer and may get to beat a Nazi or two if we're lucky.

Choosing a country that can't be assimilated would have been a smart strategy. Obviously, Britain would never have went for it and as has been said Hitler's treaties weren't worth anything.

Germany would have most likely have wished Britain was completely out of the war, as it would have been a problem that would have been impossible to resolve.

Hitler really did love Britain though, He said the best day of his life was when he signed the london naval agreement. Hitler sent out advisers to try and follow up the treaty with a more solid agreement.
Hitlers reaction after the defeat of France follows this theory as he offered Britian a treaty that would even allow it to keep the Empire (although this might be due to the Royal navy).

Why would they have been made weaker? Britain was still considered a superpower in the 30's and they had the largest navy in the world.
