Why is David Haye the only world champion who NEVER faced a YOUNGER opponent?

The comparison is lame because Patterson and Tyson are the YOUNGEST heavyweight champions of all time.

Moreover the comparison is lame because a lot of their opponents' birth dates are missing.

But to answer your question: Yes they both faced younger opponents when they were champs.

          Who has been world class?

Why cant Vitali floor anyone under 220 lbs ?
            FOR EVERYONE WHO READS THIS:
JoeyZagz is one of the BIGGEST statistical NONSENSE SPEWERS of this website.

Whenever JoeyZagz tells some figures they will be WRONG most of the time. Already in several posts he has been exposed and this time is no different:

Vitali Klitschko KOed 1 opponent below 220 lbs (Vaughn Bean) and 2 who were almost surely below 220 (Delgado, Haynes).

            Thus Vitali's KOratio below 220 (3/4 = 75%) is even higher than Lennox' (9/13 = 69%).

Moreover JoeyZagz tries to spin the fact Vitali's average opponent is 235 lbs (since we live in a super heavyweight era) thus it's only natural that Vitali only faced 4x opponents who weighed 220 and below while his beloved Lennox faced 13x(!) such opponents, Mike Tyson did so 30x(!) and Muhammad Ali even an embarrassing 54 times.

Thus the question is not how many opponents did Vitali KO BELOW 220 lbs but how many did he KO ABOVE 220 lbs.

Muhammad Ali KOed 1 opponent above 220 lbs (within 12 rounds: Alvin Lewis, 223 lbs, KO11).
            Mike Tyson: 18x
            Lennox Lewis: 23x
Vitali Klitschko: 35x (and still counting)

Get over it, JoeyZagz, Vitali Klitschko plays in a different KO league than Lennox Lewis, but if you are so proud then you should print a T-Shirt saying "Lennox Lewis KOed more guys below 220 lbs than Vitali Klitschko". If that makes you happy.

Mike Tyson faced 8 opponents (+9 other with unknown birth dates) who were younger, for example Bruce Seldon.

Floyd Patterson faced 18 (+ 8 unknown) opponents who were younger for example Muhammad Ali, Jimmy Ellis or Tom McNeely.

Also the median age is bewildering

                  • David Haye: 34yro opponents (whole career)
                  • Floyd Patterson:26yro opponents (whole career)
                  • Mike Tyson: 29yro (whole career)

You see, it's not only that he NEVER faced YOUNGER opponents, it's the TYPICAL AGE of opponents that looks suspicious, especially since Haye spent most of his career at cruiserweight where the fighters are usually younger.

Does this mean that Tyson was 30 before he faced anyone who was younger?

                      How old is Haye?
