It seems like you're the confused one since Mayweather hasn't had a legit KO or even a knockdown since Ricky Hatton in 2007. That's hardly equating "knocking people out left and right"

A couple of KOs or even KDs since then would have been good to sway people's opinion.
He knocked Marquez down in 2009.

John isn't saying Mayweather is knocking people out left and right.

      That's true.

      Yeah I get that

I know. He's saying people think Mayweather doesn't have power, because he isn't knocking people out left and right.

And I simply said that even if Mayweather just had a couple of knockouts in the last 10 or so years, maybe people would respect his power more. He doesn't have to knock people out left and right to be considered powerful.

And then he got into a hissyfit.

Floyd is weary about using his power, he has enough to hurt opponents but does not posses one punch KO power.

Probably because of all the fighters who have taken his punches and said he doesn't hit very hard. Just an observation. There have been a slew of fights (like against Pacquiao) where he has just got finished with punching someone in the face all night and they don't have a scratch or bruise on them. He has average power at best.

You could argue Hopkins is the same, how many guys has he knocked out above middleweight? People seem to forget where Floyd started his career. I think he has enough power to keep people honest. Ricky Hatton walked through a power puncher like kostya tszyu but was badly hurt by some of Mayweather shots.

It's his speed, accuracy and defense that makes fighters hesitate to come at him.

He connects with a very high percentage on his power shots yet he rarely ever rocks guys. He'd have a lot of knock downs if he had above average power with the the accuracy he lands his power shots but he doesn't.

He has very brittle hands that he'd break them if he wen't for KO's. He has average to below average power in his WW days. Earlier in his career when his hands were still holding up and he was fighting at a lower weight then he had above average power.

He wouldn't be able to cut guys' work rates in half if they didn't respect his power.

He's not a 'power puncher' but he's got enough to get your respect.

                  Also, brittle hands, doe.
it was not brittle when he knocks oriiz off

it was not brittle when he kocks hatton off.

where is the brittle hands excuse then?

when he's not knocking down/out opponents = brittle hands

                    when he knocks marquez down

                    when he knocks hatton out

when he knocks josie harris out that even wotihout the protection of hand wraps and medical gloves

when he knocks ortiz out - where's the brittle hands excuse?

If Floyd had good power, the commission wouldn't allow him to box in fear of safety for his opponents
