Budding lightweight contender Mercito ‘No Mercy’ Gesta (26-0-1, 14 KO's) is settling into his training camp in the mountains of Big Bear, California.

Having been in the area for a little over a week, Gesta is preparing for the challenge of IBF champion Miguel Vazquez (32-3, 13 KO's) on the televised pay per view undercard portion on the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez IV event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Dec. 8.

Gesta and his team are training out of Abel Sanchez’s Summit Gym, the same facility that has been used by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Miguel Cotto in recent times. [Click Here To Read More]

This is Gesta's best shot, Vazquez is a low power counter puncher. Gesta is no ball of fire himself, but if Vazquez has to come to him, Gesta's chances grow exponentially. I think Gesta has a small edge here, but only because Vazquez might not have the strength to hold him off. The down side is, Vazquez can box and might be able to outflank a very flat footed Gesta.

Gesta has to impose his power on vazquez, he won't beat vasquez boxing. He has to make it a brawl like what mares did. Problem is he has horrible cardio. It all depends on what gesta can do to make it his fight because we already know what vasquez is going to do and that is to box and move.

This should be a tossup bout. Winner gets his ass whooped by Broner, especially if it's Gesta.
