Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas - On Saturday night, former middleweight king Kelly Pavlik (38-2, 33 KOs) returned to the ring to stop Aaron Jaco (15-3, 5 KOs) in two rounds. Pavlik dropped Jaco to a knee with a hard left in the first round, and then finished him off in the second with another hard left. The fight took place at a catch-weight of 170-pounds. Following the contest, Pavlik spoke to BoxingScene.com about the win over Jaco, the first camp with new trainer Robert Garcia, and more.

I believe Pavlik can be competitve at 168 with just about every top 15 super middle not named Andre Ward or Lucian Bute. After a few fights to show n prove who knows, but, he needs stay away from 160 because he is too damn big for that division. Same with 175, he needs to prove his skills, size, and power at 168 before even thinking of moving up to Lt heavy.

How can the whole entire top of Pavlik's head already be bald? He's not that old. Did the substance abuse age him or something or that's jut normal for some people??

I've never seen a young guy THAT bald.

Probably shaves it on purpose man. But even pictures of young Pavlik showed he never had that much hair either so...

I know more than one person who turned basically bald in their 20's.

Most likely genetics, rather than drugs.


They tend to shave it all off rather than have a few strands of hair growing out each side.

Well, he performed as he should have against Jaco but in reality, that's not saying much.
Why?
Because it was JACO!
Kelly has burned a lot of bridges and he was handed a guy he could burn down as a test of faith.
1) Would he show up?
2) Could he devour a man less experienced and obviously very afraid.

Now the truth test begins.
More Jaco's will not prepare him for the whooping that Ward would put on him.
Bute will dance to victory as well.
The entire, original Garcia/Arum script, was to get him ready to once again perform at 160 and cash in against Julio Jr.
Why else would the cash conscious Arum forgive the Pavlik pullout, embarrassing him with Showtime?
Airtime is a precious gift in this boxing economy.
Pavlik/Chavez would be make for excellent PPV dollars.

Reality check:
Some white fighters still get an extra 'get out of jail free card'
There is no real money at 168.
The big score was Chavez and it appears that those 10 pounds he wears right now will stay exactly where they are.
Kelly's career has been a one way ticket to Palookaville.

Is he a recovering alcoholic or just in remission until he selects?
This intangible is at the heart of the Pavlik saga and time is Kelly's enemy, not
