  • Comments Thread For: Team Povetkin: Late Notice Huck Rematch is Impossible

The "regular" world champion of WBA, heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin of Russia, is looking for a replacement opponent for his July comeback. WBO cruiserweight king Marco Huck has offered to step in on late notice and says he can "wear pajamas to the fight and still beat Povetkin." Povetkin won a close controversial decision over Huck in February. Following the loss, Huck moved back down to cruiser and fought Ola Afolabi to a twelve round draw on May 5th. Povetkin was going to battle Hasim Rahman who withdrew with injury.

Povetkin wants no parts of Marco. Huck deserved the W.

Of course it is. The fact that Povetkin is a Top HW right now just shows how worthless that division is.

The fact Povetkin has a "title" is a complete joke. So why doesn't he negotiate a fight with Wlad after this weekend when Wlad wrecks Tony Thompson? Oh yeah, because Povetkin is far beyond a chump it's not even a funny joke.

How did he fight Huck in the first place? He wasn't ranked before.

the WBA "regular" title really is just the #1 contender spot. he has 20 months to take his shot at the super champion. i'm not sure what happens after that. does he get stripped of his regular title if he doesn't take his fight? it's just a cash grab to get sanctioning fees...
