  • Comments Thread For: Perez, Maldonado Disagree on Final Result of ShoBox Bout

Bernard Hopkins told Michael Perez afterward that if he didn’t get knocked down toward the very end of his 10-round lightweight fight Friday night he would’ve won a unanimous decision.

Perez, of Newark, N.J., actually would’ve won a majority decision had Fidel Maldonado Jr. not dropped him late in their tight fight. The 2008 National Golden Gloves champion instead settled for a split-decision victory over Maldonado in the opener of a “ShoBox: The New Generation” doubleheader from Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif. There were a lot of very close rounds in this fight. I could see it going both ways.

Perez should stick to this level of opposition bcse any step up the ladder ends in tko -beatdown - quitjob take a pick

The writer(Keith Idec) of this article wrote-->" Maldonado, who lost by first-round TKO in the first round of his previous fight--->Duh!!If he lost by 1st round TKO IT COULDN'T have happened in any other round!!& by the way, Maldonado lost by 2nd round TKO against Carcamo, not the 1st..

Maldonado would have been knocked out in the fourth when he was ready to go if it was Figueroa.

i think both guys looked awful, maldonado fought like he was frightened or something i noticed that in the second round up until like the seventh,he has no stamina,no defense, perez is just as bad,no defense, looked tired too and didn't even press the action when he had maldonado hurt,i think any above avg fighter beats these guys easily

Would of been a much better fight if both guys would have come in conditioned. They were starting to visually gas in round 3. :wank:
