When he was active fighter I never understood why they call him "Chino" - but now as he's chubby he indeed has more of an Asian look, somehow.

Maybe he has Japanese ancestors. There are Japanese immigrants in Argentina (but more in Brazil). When I was in graduate school, I have this Argentinian friend who is definitely more Japanese than anything else. His grandparents are pure Japanese immigrants.
