Everyone underestimates Mack since both his losses were due to stamina issues. But since his loss to Andrade he has been trained by John Tandy, an excellent trainer with a camp in the mountains of California. In each of his 5 fights since moving to LHW, he has either gone the distance or knocked out his opponent. He will be trained to go 15 rounds against Johnson. Stamina will not be an issue with Mack. They both fought Daniel Judah last year, they both went the distance. Mack carried Judah the distance just to prove to himself and the boxing community that he was trained to go the distance. Johnson tried to knock out Judah and failed. The Johnson Dawson losses were boring fights that Johnson believes, mistakenly, that he won technically. HBO does not want to show, yet another boring Johnson fight since the Johnson Dawson ratings were the lowest ever for HBO boxing. Johnson's come forward style of boxing is perfect for Mack as he is a counter puncher. This type of matchup is destined for an exciting fight, but in the end Mack's underrated stamina and felonious right hook will overcome Johnson. Chris Henry is similar in style to Johnson and it was a toe to toe knock down drag out with Mack on top in the end. Although the Judges made it a split decision, ESPN analysts Teddy Atlas and Joe Tessitore scored it unanimous in Mack's favor. Johnson will not fare any better than Johnson. His head is not as hard as Henry's and it is unlikely that Johnson will survive the 12 consecutive right hooks that Henry did. The smart money is on Mack.
