  • Pongsaklek-Arce underneath Pacquiao-Morales!

Arce gives up WBC Mini flyweight belt to challenge the WBC flyweight champ

Long reigning WBC 108-pound champion Jorge Arce, who has struggled to make weight in his last few fights, will finally give up his belt to challenge Thai Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (54-2, 29 KOs) for the WBC Flyweight belt on March 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Arce (38-3-1, 28 KOs) had held the title since winning it on October of 2001, and has KO'ed eight opponents in ten outings.

Wonjongkam has KO'ed seven opponents in 12 starts since winning the belt back in March of 2001.

The vacant title will be disputed between former WBC minimumweight champion Jose Antonio ''Jaguar'' Aguirre (33-2, 20 KOs) and Panamanian Roberto Vazquez (18-1, 15 KOs) which will also take place on March 19 at the MGM Grand.

Aguirre is currently ranked in the #2 position in the WBC rankings, while Vasquez holds the # 1 spot

Finally, boxing fans in the West will see P4P fighter and long-time WBC flyweight champ Pongsaklek Wonjongkham fight. He holds the record of the quickest KO victory in flyweight history when he destroyed Daisuke Naito in 34 secs. of the 1st round. This will be his 13th title defense of the green WBC belt. Boxer/puncher/pressure fighter he's a good all-around fighter with power. Good to see him in the undercard.

I guess Z Gorres is not worthy for PPV. Remember he was supposed to be fighting underneath Pac-JMM which was not PPV.

So expect champions and top contenders battling each other on the supporting bouts.

Will be a good matchup. Great undercard, by the way, as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will also fight that night.

Arce was overweight when he defended against Ernesto Rubillar but got off with it. It will be a difficult fight for him with Pongsaklek.
