  • Origin of this Jim Lampley quote

"It's a pier six brawl in there, guys!"

    What fight? :wvng:

Not sure when he used it first because I hear that term a lot.

I don't know the true origin of the term either. but I am guessing it goes way back. Perhaps even back to a time boxing was not so legal and had to be held on piers or in warehouses.

I remember Jim Lampley from one of the Golota fights (I think) where a lot of low blows were being thrown...Jim was like "oh that's a low blow, oh another low blow, OH IT'S A COMBINATION OF LOW BLOWS!!!"

I almost fell down from the chair laughing my azz off..

Not interested about the origin of the phrase itself. I only want to know when Lampley said it. I have a hazy memory that it was a Morales fight... possibly Barrera I or Pacquiao I.

... and type "pier six"... then read the results...
