  • Paul Williams a nightmare match up for Mayweather

Mayweather is a counterpuncher that fights moving backwards with the intent of baiting his cherrypicked opponent into throwing the first punch which Wifebeater could then counter. But Williams is too tall and would just do a hit and run of his own from outside Roger's nephew's range.

Williams would be a total nightmare for Floydie. True or true?

I used to think so and would almost guarantee victory for Paul but sharpshooters have really found their target on Paul. While Floyd isn't a lefty, he's about as sharp as they come. One disadvantage on Floyd of late though is that he's foot movement is slowing down. He's walking opponents down more as he gets older and that wouldn't have cut it.

Floyd is versatile he can come at you head up, he can out box you, and he is definetly the best counterpuncher in the business.... Paul williams is a straight ahead fighter that bends down and keeps his hands low basically he is tailor made for Floyd!!!

False, there's not a single truth in your statement, in fact I think it's completely the opposite, the actual Williams is perfect for Floyd.

Floyd may not be a southpaw, but he has good footwork and knows how to use lateral steps to hit the opponent. Also, Floyd is a great counter puncher that has great accuracy, which is more than enough to get Williams.

About Williams, the guy is really tall, but as we have seen in his past fights, he's terrible at using his size to his advantage, in fact the guy likes to fight in the short distance instead of using his long arms to keep his opponents out of range. He also leaves himself exposed when he throws wild punches and is not fast when it comes to get his hands back to his face, so he's very exposed to counter punchers, even if they're not southpaw.

For one, Williams doesn't fight at range so Floyd wouldn't have any problem hitting him. That's the first part of your analysis that is wrong, and thought this was common knowledge.

And 2, Williams isn't that hard to hit at all, and whilst he has activity over Floyd, which could in fact win him a decision based on that alone (even see Lara fight in judges eyes), he would be getting hit clean all night long, Floyd would be landing a very high % of his punches as he is really accurate.

So whilst I couldn't count out Pwill based on his activity and that he's bigger than Floyd, I don't really see it. He's just not on Floyd's level.
