You're right, They are indeed very different.. Guess I should've made the poll a multiple choice then eh?

Well, I think the problem when dealing with "best" scenario... there isn't usually a clear cut answer and it's subjective to the time that it's asked.

If I was in the mood to see something more action oriented in that Genre I'd reach for The Departed... if I was looking for plot and story I'd reach for Godfather ptII... and if I was looking for something in the middle I'd reach for the other 2.

I'd say if I haaaaaaaaaad to choose one I'd lean towards The Departed, just barely.

Goodfellas wins hands down love that film, the departed was class as well, also a bronx tale.

Donnie Brasco is actually a really good option,

Kudos on including that considering it HAS to be one of the more underrated "great" caliber gangster films of the modern era.
