I'm writing to you on behalf of Songfacts.com, who recently published a feature on Muhammad Ali's musical legacy.
"On February 25, 1964, former Olympic gold medalist Muhammad Ali knocked out the seemingly invulnerable Sonny Liston for the heavyweight championship. Decades later, rappers would make tiresome boasts of their figurative knockouts and imaginary championships, but Ali did it for real. He had the audacity to release his album I Am The Greatest! in 1963 while he was still just a contender. It was merely a footnote on the charts, but Ali's musical influence is best heard in the songs that he would go on to inspire."
